Who we are

Our approach

Independent Italian coffee roasters and people who love coffee: IndieRoastersItaly is the small project that connects these two worlds. Those who roast coffee independently, and those who drink it without knowing it.

01 · Our values

Independence

We don’t write about mass-market brands. We give space to those who roast in small batches and follow their own idea of coffee, even when it costs more and takes longer. An independent roaster answers to their own taste, not to a production plan. For us this means less standardisation and more identity: every batch tells the story of a precise choice, made by the person who roasted it, not by a marketing department.

02 · Our values

Quality in the cup, not on a scorecard

The specialty coffee world loves numbers: scores, rankings, ratings on the label. We don’t.

We talk about a coffee because we have tasted it, discussed it and tasted it again. It convinced us in the cup, not on paper.

A high score doesn’t guarantee that a coffee will actually be enjoyed by the person drinking it. That’s why we prefer honest tasting notes to a table of numbers.

03 · Our values

Transparency

We want to know who roasts the coffee we drink, how they do it and why.

That’s why we never write about a roaster anonymously: before featuring anyone, we talk to them and make sure their way of working convinces us.

We explain the processing method, the origin of each lot and the choices made during roasting, so you always know what’s really in your cup. And when we recommend coffee gear, we tell you clearly if a link is an affiliate link.

04 · Our values

Courage

It takes courage to stay small when everything pushes you to grow fast.

It’s the courage of roasters who choose independence, even when it costs more.

And it’s the courage of coffee drinkers who break the habit and try a coffee they don’t know yet.

05 · Our values

We don't push products, we explain them

You won’t find hard-sell product pages or flash deals here. Our blog explains the difference between washed and natural coffee, debunks the most common coffee myths and tells the story of what we drink every day.

Before you buy, we want you to understand.

We’d rather have an informed reader than a customer convinced in a hurry: it’s a slower approach, but it’s the one we believe in.

For us, coffee is not a score to show off.
It's a story, and a choice made with care.

Mission

We discover independent Italian coffee roasters with the same care they put into choosing their green coffee. We taste, we compare and we only feature the ones that truly convince us. Our goal is to connect passionate roasters with people who want to discover them, without anonymous middlemen. Every roaster we write about was chosen one person at a time, not from a catalogue.

Vision

We imagine a different Italian coffee scene: a market where independence is not a niche. Where coffee drinkers know who roasts their coffee, and why. Where small roasters get the recognition they deserve instead of disappearing behind big retail. A market where quality is measured in the cup, not in the number of shelves reached.

Not just another coffee roaster

We don’t roast coffee. We connect the people who roast it with the people who drink it. We listen to independent roasters and to readers looking for a different kind of coffee. Our job is to tell their stories and explain their craft, with no anonymous middlemen in between. We are a bridge between two worlds that rarely talk to each other: those who produce with care, and those looking for something more than just any coffee.
